According to the article ” CSM Worldwide: Election Year Promises Will Meet Automakers' Harsh Reality”, at present, both of two president candidates want to provide finance to vehicle producers and look for new energy for environment protection. However, they use the different way to solve this kind of problems. In Obama’s plan, he tries to make an improvement of energy and allocate funds for the development of new energy and new vehicles, because Obama wants to though this improvement, change the currently energy problem. Battery will instead of fuel can be come true under this change, in order to save oil and protect the global environment. Now, some car producers have already response Obama’s call, and Obama use both 'carrot and stick' to improve it as soon as possible. In addition, from McCain’s plain, he wants to force cars producers and increase fines, in order to make them follow the limit of cars’ displacement, especially some big car producers. Also, McCain provide a big prize to encourage following this limit. He thought that should be a good way to solve the problem, instead of providing loan for producers to develop new kinds of vehicles.
Since America president Obama claimed auto emissions, more and more people and countries keep their eyes on this issue. America is considered to be one of the strongest nations in the world. As a more developed country, if US become the leader of this behavior, it must have good influence on other countries. At first, many Americans agreed with Obama, but Obama decided to put huge amount money to make the policy work. This caused people objected his decision and just went the opposite way. They thought the government can do this by law or make a strick publishment, not costing so much money. In my opinion, I still think that this we can get more benefits than disadvantages of this policy.
Firstly, this kind of investment cannot just be measured by money. If people want to make the policy affective, it must cost money. No matter how much it cost, I think it is worthy. It is said that the global warming is becoming worse and worse, it will cost not only money if we still don't do anything for the environment.
Secondly, it can protect the environment. Air pollution is closely related to our daily life. Some countries that don't pay any attention to the environment have suffered from nature disasters every year. In some cases, auto emissions can protect the environment.
In addition, it contributes to the constant renewal of automobile technology. According to media sources, the plan by the United States welcomed the automotive industry. It allows car manufacturers no longer in production because of different state standards and at a loss, and leave the car manufacturers is relatively ample time to adapt to the new standards. However, this plan will make U.S. consumers purchase new cars each cost an average of 1300 U.S. dollars
In conclusion, the restrictions on vehicle exhaust emissions to ensure clean air, reducing the funds to deal with gas, but also improve the way of creating new cars.I want to stand up for supporting is policy.

Obama’s auto emission

            According to J            ohn Ibbitson in his article” Obama’s swift action on emissions shows he will be green-at any cost”, the president Obama promulgated a ordinance about limit car's displacement in order to save energy and protect environment. The governor of California felt happy and totally agreed with this ordinance. However, the governor of Michigan who is a Democrat thought this decision could affect the cars' imports and exports. Now, the problems about energy and environment and how to solve them have already been put in Obama's domestic agenda. He asked the department of transportation to decline the exhaust. This order was refused when Bush was president. Now, the governor of California is so happy that this order has been thought when Obama to be the president. There is really a historic significance for American; thereby they could get a better environment without the affection of fuel. However this new revolution will need a long time to be came true and it still a huge challenge to American's car producers. In addition, American also signed agreement of reduces emissions with other countries, states and provinces, which are in the north of American. However it will be opposed to the interests of coal and oil in some of these states. The ex-president did a little about how to make a clear environment (John, Jan 27).

In my opinion, I totally agree with president Obama’s idea. Although I am not an American citizen, take part in protecting our environment and save energy is still a goal for me. At present, more and more luxury cars produced, in order to satisfy people’s personal peacock. However, it must affect many vehicles’ producers’ benefits, and they do not want to change any more. As this result, Obama’s decision, which limits high displacement cars’ production, plays an important and necessary role in current serious situation. I think reduce the use of high displacement is one of the best way to save energy, protect environment and improve the technology of making cars.

            First of all, it can save resource. The price of gas is keep rising because there are less and less gas and fuel in the world. In my opinion, the most important reason is there are two many car. In US, almost everyone owns his private car and each family at least own two car. Americans used to using cars instead of walking. The auto emissions can just set up limitation of using too much cars, it also can be a way to save energy.

             Secondly, auto emission can help us to protect the environment. Car can pull out many dirty gases into the air, and finally causes the air pollution. If the auto emission works, people will take public transportation to work or get on one car to drive. This can reduce the bad gas and make the air cleaner and fresh.

            In addition, if the car producers want to keep their profit by this policy, they have to create new kinds of car machine to make sure the pollution can be reduced. They will think about more advanced technology to produce cars. So the auto emission can inspire the new way of creating cars.

            In conclusion, as I mentioned before, Obama’s auto emission is not only save energy but also good for the environment and the industry of making cars. This policy may help US developing healthier, so I want to stand up for supporting it.

Protection for Ozone Layer

According to StephenLeahy, in his article "Climate Change: Chemical Lobby Weakening Ozone Treaty", serious affects are caused by the huge damage of the ozone layer and the measure and attitude from different countries and companies. At present, the ozone hole is increasing rapidly year by year. That causes more and more people to get cancer, some of them even die. As a result of this, many countries have to sign a resolution to protect this ozone layer, in order to protect not only human's health, but also keep every species ability survive on the earth. Obviously, the damage to the ozone layer has been decreased because of the signing of this resolution. Some chemical gases from refrigeration can cause the ozone hole. Although some healthy chemical gases that can reduce the damage of the ozone layer have been invented, and are used for almost half of the world’s production, some producers and countries still do not change because of their own commercial interests. However, more and more places have responded to the UN's appeal, in order to create a green world (Leahy, 2009).
Nowadays, with the high-speed development of the society and industry, more and more productions have been created to satisfy people's requirements. As a result, the damage of ozone layer has been destroyed rapidly as well. Under this situation, people not only need to work for how comfortable and convinent their life is, they also need to think about how to protect the earth that we live in. So, I strongly agree with Leahy's opinion in his article. In my opinion, reducing the use of refrigeration which created ozone damaging gas, decreasing the use of private vehicles and enhancing dissemination of ozone layer protection are three main ideas, so that we keep a good environment for every species on the earth.
First of all, scientists have already found some new gas that can be used in the refrigeration with the same function as the old CFC, an ozone damaging gas. Because probably most people have to use the refrigeration every day, trying to change this new kind of refrigeration could be the first and most useful way to decrease the ozone destruction. Now, many people do not want to change their refrigerations because they do not want to waste more money to buy a new one with almost the same function. However, after reading of the increasing number of ozone hole areas and people with skin cancer caused by ultraviolet radiation, we have to think about the environment of the whole world instead of ourselves；therefore, changing the old ozone-damaging refrigeration as soon as possible, transforms our earth better and better.
Secondly, with the rapid development of modern industry and standard of living, many people have the ability afford the private car for themselves. Many vehicle producers increase their cars’ comfort and speed，in order to satisfy users’ requirements. Whereas this problem getting worse, the more vehicles that are produced, more gas has been used for these vehicle to work. Because the gas from burning oil also can destroy ozone layer, more vehicles run in the street means more destruction of the ozone layer. As a result, many countries enough their people to take public transportation, thus reducomg the burning of oil, and declining the ozone-damaging gas that is let into the atmosphere.
Finally, I think the basic and normal way to reduce the process of ozone damaging is to let more and more people know how serious it would be if our life without ozone layer. For some people, who do not understand what the ozone layer is, and why it is important to people’s life, they will learn the importance of it and think of solutions of this problem.
In conclusion, the damage to the ozone layer is one of the more serious problems for us currently, and also finding a way to solve it as soon as possible is still important and necessary. Trying to change to use a refrigeration without powerful greenhouse gases, taking more public transformation instead of private cars and making more and more people understand how it is important to improve the protection of the ozone layer is the solution.

Protectionism: Urgent problem in today’s world

With the development of the economy, the relationship between countries is much stronger than before. However the practice of protectionism, which means the government does its utmost to protect their industries just goes the opposite way of globalization. The prices are unstable because of the reduction of imports or exports. People have fewer choices than before. Also, some countries set up a wall to prevent personnel who come from other countries to occupy jobs in their nations. Even people who get well educated still can’t be employed by big companies abroad. In addition, free trade is making more interdependence among nations and mutual understanding among cultures, and can help countries to maintain political stability. In my opinion, economic protectionism is a real risk. Protectionism can increase the misunderstanding between different nations, and cut the world into many pieces. That is why I think protectionism has bad influences on our life, and it should be one the most urgent problems for the people.

APRIL 20th

There are many unforgetable things in my life. As the time passing by, the memory just like a film come to my mind. I studied in Beijing for almost 4 years before I came here, my parents and all my relatives were living in Shandong.Before I came to Beijing, my first impression of the people here are proud. They may not easy to get along well with.I always remembered my mother's word that be silent when your can't control the situation. So when I went to the class, I tried to speak as little as possible ,because to the classmates I am a stranger.The most important thing is I am not a real Beijingnese. I went to school by myself, went back home alone and did everything on my own.Sometimes I just felt that my classmates looking at me on a strangs and looking down on me. When the sports meeting was held in my school, I had some chances to talk with a few girls,but very formal conversation. I was so nervous at that time that I tried to find the topic that they can be interested in. I thought I failed to make friends with them because after that, everything went the same way as before. What made me more sad was I thought that I had to celebrate my birthday by myself. My birthday was coming, I was in bad mood and went to school late.When I came into the classroom. I was really shocked by what I saw. The blackboard was written "happy birthday", the classroom was decarated by flowers. My classmates wrote wish note and pasted on the wall. I still rememebered what they wrote." be happy and be confidence, you are NO.1". " I can be your best friend, if I can help you, please let me know." " you are a vital member of the class." I was deelply touched by these words and can't stop crying. This is a special family for me ,for a girl who study in other country. And here, in CESL, I also feel as warm as a family.I do really want to thank all the people who love me and loved by me.

April 15th

My mother always said I am good at eating, even though I don't know how to cook. I like trying to eat everything that I have never eaten before. When I saw this journal, it just reminds me of the most strange and maybe the hardest thing I have ever eaten.My hometown is famous for seafood, that day my mother bought some black, heavy thing to home and just put some water to cook it. It is just as same size as coin or a small button before cooking. After 5 minuets boiling in the hot water, it became bigger and some thing began to push out of the black out-coat. It is easy to cook but difficult for eating. You must break the out-coat and then eat the thing inside. Maybe my teeth were strong enough, I can't taste anyone for a long time.It was so hard that I am afraid that my teeth would be broken. That's true!! My father almost ate all of them, so later, I took a hammer and ate only a little bit. It was really delicious. I can't find the English name of this thing. But in China, we call it " hai bolou" , only my home can produce the most fresh of them and it can only be found in summer. Before I came to here, I was lucky to eat it again and this time people had created some small machine to make it easier to eat. Actually ,it looks ugly but taste so well. So I alway make jokes on it like, we can't adjust something by its appearance!! huh~

April 6th

The first time I saw this assignment, I was reminded of the epitaph of the great people.I was an ordinary people, maybe I cannot do great contribution to the whole society. But if someday I died, I still hope some people can remember me, even only one of my characteristic.I will write words to thank the people who once helped me, and my grateful of all the thing I used in my life. Also, I will make a wish in my epitaph, I wish every one can live a happy life,especially the one I loved and those person who loved me.I don't need any luxury decoration. The more simple, the better.We all have many complicated things to do when we are alive, no matter how much we try to avoid these. So I expect a simple way to hold a memorial ceremony for my death.Actually, when I was in China, we had talked this in our class. Some of my classmates said, they hope their bone ash can be throw into the sea after dying, because they wanted to become a fish next life. I remembered that I said I hope there can be a music epitaph for me , when the people came to see me, it can play my favourite music automaticlly. They wouldn't be so sad.I always see the eptiaph is gray, it is so stressful for the person who came to grieve over. But it can't not be changed because it is said that it is the solemn color. That's why I want a music epitaph.
It must be a strange idea, but I really hope so.

Mar 30th

There are also many "different"people in my country,and most of them are teenagers like my age or a little bit older than me. They like taking photoes of themselve and uploading their pictures to the Internet,even some private pictures which are considered not to be seen by others.They wear so colorful clothes that some parents even can't accept their children to wear. They have strange hair style and hair color.They usually make up no matter girls or boys,they use eye line, eye shadow and everything they think can make them beautiful.Parents and schools are worry about this situation.Some students want to become different from"ordinary" people, they pay too much attention to attract others by dressing or something else. As a result, they fail in the exam, some even don't want to school any more.In my case, it is true that every teenager want to be unique,but not strange.Everyone has a special thing that other people don't own.What we need to do is just find out it.Also, we have to focus on our study to become excellent than others.If you just want to keep your eyes on dressing or making up, it can't last for a long time. It is possibe that you may just look like a foolish in others eyes.

EAP2 MARCH 19TH

The Chinese flag design is composed of a red background and five golden stars in the upper left corner. There is a big star in the middle which is surrounded by the other four stars. The big star means the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The other four stars mean workers , farmers,petty bourgeoisie and national assets.It symbolizes the whole nation united.Because China has suffered from many wars in the past, many people sacrificed to protect our country.It is said the red background is stained by their blood. Before it has been decided,there were many design of the flag. Our chairman Mao said , the flag should add one big yellow star and the yellow river on the background. But later, someone thought the yellow river can divide the flag into two parts. It might mean country split.Then another leader suggested to add a sickle and hammer in the big star. But we found it was similat to Russian's flag. As an independent country, we experienced a hardship during wars.We wanted something just belong to our nation,and it can reflect the national characteristics. So we rejected it again. Finally, on September 27, 1949, Five-Starred Red Flag was identified as the Chinese flag.It is the first Chinese flag ,and it is also used until today. Wherever Chinese go, when we saw our eye-catching flag , we can remind of our histroy and encourage us to go on .I am proud of it and respect it.

EPA 1A FEB 25th

This is my first term in CESL.I do really want to express an emotion of appreciating it.Since I became a students of CESL, I feel it just like a warm family for me. Teachers and classmates are very friendly,we can get long well with each other.Among all the CESL classes, I like Kara's media culture class best.She always smiles in class,it makes me feel relaxing.I remembered that once we had tea time in the afternoon, I took some cookies to her. She was very happy and smiled like a child.At that time, I treated her as my friends,even my older sister!In China,most teachers are very strict with the students, and I had to do all what the teachers asked me to do.
The relationship is not as harmony as here.Aslo, my core teacher is a cute gentlmen. He is good at body language.I know he just want us to learn more in his class.He tries best to make his class lively and interesting.Actually,it worked. I enjoy my core class very much.In addition, I made friends with some Taiwan students.Because they were exchange students ,they only had two months here.They have gone to Taiwan,I can't forget the day they went away.Before they left,they came to my house and said goodbye to me.I was so sad that we cried.We ate lunch and dinner together everyday, we studied in the same class,we went to recreation center together.We have a deep friendship.Above all. I like my CESL class!

EAP FEB20th

Actually,I think I am a bravy girl. I don't feel nervous in exam or do some dangerous sports. But I am afraid to talk with strangers,especially the people who are older than me. Since I received the admission letter from SIU, I was worry about the visa officer's face execution. Dec 12th 2008, I went to the United States Embassy in Beijing to make a interview. There were many teenagers like my age, they seemed more confidence than me. When's my turn, I am very nervous. Because many interviewors failed and they spoke English more fluently than me! I was so anxious that I even forgot to say good morning to the visa officer. I tried my best to look confidence and kept smiling . In addtion,I couldn't concentrate on listening to the questions,so I had to ask officer to repeat . I knew it would make a bad impression for the officer, so I let myself calm down. Thanks god! I was lucky that I passed.I know I will not be so lucky every time, so I let myself to communicate with people as much as possible. I found it is a easy way to make friends!

Actually,the question is difficult for me to answer. Because in my country,teenagers as my ages aren't allowed to fall in love with somebody.But,I think everyone has a ideal lover and my mother is not here, so I can talk about love!!I hope the person who married with me is a person who has a sense of responsibility.He could assume the responsibility of our family in the future.
I don't care about his appearance. He must have good moral character,be honest and kind-hearted.The most important standard in my heart is he must respect our parents. I secretly loved the boy who once to be my best heterosexual friend.But he always rude to his mother.I can't imagine a guy who a lack of respect his parents can treat me good.So he is still my friend,not my boyfriend,even not my best heterosexual friend.In fact, I want to find a boy like my father. He is the most prefect man in my heart.If I meet a guy similar to my father,I will marry him!!

I like to introduce some of the Chinese culture.China is a country has a long history.Ancient Chinese culture has always been the foundation of China's development.When I was a child ,I always curious about our culture.It is difficult to write Chinese. Each Chinese character has four different pronunciation.So it always make people confusing. I learn English here, I feel English may be hard to me.But,if you want to learn Chinese or speak Chinese well,it's much more difficult.China and the United States as the world's most powerful developing and developed countries,in the economic, there will be many co-operation about political and cultural .China is a great platform for career development.Sopeople from other country who want to develop their career in China need to learn some basic Chinese.Also,it can help China and America communicate with each other more convinence.I am really proud of my motherland.It is a love, tradition, the mysterious oriental country.

Since I was a student,I have met a lot of teachers. The teacher I respect most is my high school maths teacher.Although I did badly in maths ,he never gave me up.I remembered that one day , he taught us a simple way to solve a problem,then he tested us the same question which he just taught us. When the score came out,only I and another three girls failed in the exam.He asked us to come his office,I thought he would be angry with us,but he didn't. He taught us again until all of us four understood.Later I knew, that day was his wife's birthday. I was so sorry about that,he told me ,as a teacher ,the most important thing is student. He hoped I can try my best to do everything, no matter I interest in it or not.I still remember his words, when came cross difficulties, I was brave to face them. I did really want to express an enmotion of appreciating him.
