Protection for Ozone Layer

According to StephenLeahy, in his article "Climate Change: Chemical Lobby Weakening Ozone Treaty", serious affects are caused by the huge damage of the ozone layer and the measure and attitude from different countries and companies. At present, the ozone hole is increasing rapidly year by year. That causes more and more people to get cancer, some of them even die. As a result of this, many countries have to sign a resolution to protect this ozone layer, in order to protect not only human's health, but also keep every species ability survive on the earth. Obviously, the damage to the ozone layer has been decreased because of the signing of this resolution. Some chemical gases from refrigeration can cause the ozone hole. Although some healthy chemical gases that can reduce the damage of the ozone layer have been invented, and are used for almost half of the world’s production, some producers and countries still do not change because of their own commercial interests. However, more and more places have responded to the UN's appeal, in order to create a green world (Leahy, 2009).
Nowadays, with the high-speed development of the society and industry, more and more productions have been created to satisfy people's requirements. As a result, the damage of ozone layer has been destroyed rapidly as well. Under this situation, people not only need to work for how comfortable and convinent their life is, they also need to think about how to protect the earth that we live in. So, I strongly agree with Leahy's opinion in his article. In my opinion, reducing the use of refrigeration which created ozone damaging gas, decreasing the use of private vehicles and enhancing dissemination of ozone layer protection are three main ideas, so that we keep a good environment for every species on the earth.
First of all, scientists have already found some new gas that can be used in the refrigeration with the same function as the old CFC, an ozone damaging gas. Because probably most people have to use the refrigeration every day, trying to change this new kind of refrigeration could be the first and most useful way to decrease the ozone destruction. Now, many people do not want to change their refrigerations because they do not want to waste more money to buy a new one with almost the same function. However, after reading of the increasing number of ozone hole areas and people with skin cancer caused by ultraviolet radiation, we have to think about the environment of the whole world instead of ourselves；therefore, changing the old ozone-damaging refrigeration as soon as possible, transforms our earth better and better.
Secondly, with the rapid development of modern industry and standard of living, many people have the ability afford the private car for themselves. Many vehicle producers increase their cars’ comfort and speed，in order to satisfy users’ requirements. Whereas this problem getting worse, the more vehicles that are produced, more gas has been used for these vehicle to work. Because the gas from burning oil also can destroy ozone layer, more vehicles run in the street means more destruction of the ozone layer. As a result, many countries enough their people to take public transportation, thus reducomg the burning of oil, and declining the ozone-damaging gas that is let into the atmosphere.
Finally, I think the basic and normal way to reduce the process of ozone damaging is to let more and more people know how serious it would be if our life without ozone layer. For some people, who do not understand what the ozone layer is, and why it is important to people’s life, they will learn the importance of it and think of solutions of this problem.
In conclusion, the damage to the ozone layer is one of the more serious problems for us currently, and also finding a way to solve it as soon as possible is still important and necessary. Trying to change to use a refrigeration without powerful greenhouse gases, taking more public transformation instead of private cars and making more and more people understand how it is important to improve the protection of the ozone layer is the solution.

Protectionism: Urgent problem in today’s world

With the development of the economy, the relationship between countries is much stronger than before. However the practice of protectionism, which means the government does its utmost to protect their industries just goes the opposite way of globalization. The prices are unstable because of the reduction of imports or exports. People have fewer choices than before. Also, some countries set up a wall to prevent personnel who come from other countries to occupy jobs in their nations. Even people who get well educated still can’t be employed by big companies abroad. In addition, free trade is making more interdependence among nations and mutual understanding among cultures, and can help countries to maintain political stability. In my opinion, economic protectionism is a real risk. Protectionism can increase the misunderstanding between different nations, and cut the world into many pieces. That is why I think protectionism has bad influences on our life, and it should be one the most urgent problems for the people.

APRIL 20th

There are many unforgetable things in my life. As the time passing by, the memory just like a film come to my mind. I studied in Beijing for almost 4 years before I came here, my parents and all my relatives were living in Shandong.Before I came to Beijing, my first impression of the people here are proud. They may not easy to get along well with.I always remembered my mother's word that be silent when your can't control the situation. So when I went to the class, I tried to speak as little as possible ,because to the classmates I am a stranger.The most important thing is I am not a real Beijingnese. I went to school by myself, went back home alone and did everything on my own.Sometimes I just felt that my classmates looking at me on a strangs and looking down on me. When the sports meeting was held in my school, I had some chances to talk with a few girls,but very formal conversation. I was so nervous at that time that I tried to find the topic that they can be interested in. I thought I failed to make friends with them because after that, everything went the same way as before. What made me more sad was I thought that I had to celebrate my birthday by myself. My birthday was coming, I was in bad mood and went to school late.When I came into the classroom. I was really shocked by what I saw. The blackboard was written "happy birthday", the classroom was decarated by flowers. My classmates wrote wish note and pasted on the wall. I still rememebered what they wrote." be happy and be confidence, you are NO.1". " I can be your best friend, if I can help you, please let me know." " you are a vital member of the class." I was deelply touched by these words and can't stop crying. This is a special family for me ,for a girl who study in other country. And here, in CESL, I also feel as warm as a family.I do really want to thank all the people who love me and loved by me.

April 15th

My mother always said I am good at eating, even though I don't know how to cook. I like trying to eat everything that I have never eaten before. When I saw this journal, it just reminds me of the most strange and maybe the hardest thing I have ever eaten.My hometown is famous for seafood, that day my mother bought some black, heavy thing to home and just put some water to cook it. It is just as same size as coin or a small button before cooking. After 5 minuets boiling in the hot water, it became bigger and some thing began to push out of the black out-coat. It is easy to cook but difficult for eating. You must break the out-coat and then eat the thing inside. Maybe my teeth were strong enough, I can't taste anyone for a long time.It was so hard that I am afraid that my teeth would be broken. That's true!! My father almost ate all of them, so later, I took a hammer and ate only a little bit. It was really delicious. I can't find the English name of this thing. But in China, we call it " hai bolou" , only my home can produce the most fresh of them and it can only be found in summer. Before I came to here, I was lucky to eat it again and this time people had created some small machine to make it easier to eat. Actually ,it looks ugly but taste so well. So I alway make jokes on it like, we can't adjust something by its appearance!! huh~

April 6th

The first time I saw this assignment, I was reminded of the epitaph of the great people.I was an ordinary people, maybe I cannot do great contribution to the whole society. But if someday I died, I still hope some people can remember me, even only one of my characteristic.I will write words to thank the people who once helped me, and my grateful of all the thing I used in my life. Also, I will make a wish in my epitaph, I wish every one can live a happy life,especially the one I loved and those person who loved me.I don't need any luxury decoration. The more simple, the better.We all have many complicated things to do when we are alive, no matter how much we try to avoid these. So I expect a simple way to hold a memorial ceremony for my death.Actually, when I was in China, we had talked this in our class. Some of my classmates said, they hope their bone ash can be throw into the sea after dying, because they wanted to become a fish next life. I remembered that I said I hope there can be a music epitaph for me , when the people came to see me, it can play my favourite music automaticlly. They wouldn't be so sad.I always see the eptiaph is gray, it is so stressful for the person who came to grieve over. But it can't not be changed because it is said that it is the solemn color. That's why I want a music epitaph.
It must be a strange idea, but I really hope so.

Mar 30th

There are also many "different"people in my country,and most of them are teenagers like my age or a little bit older than me. They like taking photoes of themselve and uploading their pictures to the Internet,even some private pictures which are considered not to be seen by others.They wear so colorful clothes that some parents even can't accept their children to wear. They have strange hair style and hair color.They usually make up no matter girls or boys,they use eye line, eye shadow and everything they think can make them beautiful.Parents and schools are worry about this situation.Some students want to become different from"ordinary" people, they pay too much attention to attract others by dressing or something else. As a result, they fail in the exam, some even don't want to school any more.In my case, it is true that every teenager want to be unique,but not strange.Everyone has a special thing that other people don't own.What we need to do is just find out it.Also, we have to focus on our study to become excellent than others.If you just want to keep your eyes on dressing or making up, it can't last for a long time. It is possibe that you may just look like a foolish in others eyes.

EAP2 MARCH 19TH

The Chinese flag design is composed of a red background and five golden stars in the upper left corner. There is a big star in the middle which is surrounded by the other four stars. The big star means the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The other four stars mean workers , farmers,petty bourgeoisie and national assets.It symbolizes the whole nation united.Because China has suffered from many wars in the past, many people sacrificed to protect our country.It is said the red background is stained by their blood. Before it has been decided,there were many design of the flag. Our chairman Mao said , the flag should add one big yellow star and the yellow river on the background. But later, someone thought the yellow river can divide the flag into two parts. It might mean country split.Then another leader suggested to add a sickle and hammer in the big star. But we found it was similat to Russian's flag. As an independent country, we experienced a hardship during wars.We wanted something just belong to our nation,and it can reflect the national characteristics. So we rejected it again. Finally, on September 27, 1949, Five-Starred Red Flag was identified as the Chinese flag.It is the first Chinese flag ,and it is also used until today. Wherever Chinese go, when we saw our eye-catching flag , we can remind of our histroy and encourage us to go on .I am proud of it and respect it.
